Painting and printmaking has been part of Susan's life journey. She goes from one to the other often and mixes them frequently. Sometimes she uses found objects and flea market items that seem to fit into the project of the moment. Humor is very important in the outcome. Local landscapes and seascapes are sources of inspiration along with people in various stages of peaceful play. This stage of her life is to push on to new ways of expressing the joy in her work through experiment.
Her goal is to enjoy the excitement of the journey, and share the pleasures of creating new works with friends and fellow artists. Susan is a member of Confetti, a group of six women, whose artistry reflects their love of painting and passion for experimenting with mixed media and abstract design.
Susan teaches mixed media and Plein Aire painting at the Rockport Art Association and North Shore Arts, and has taught pastel and watercolor classes, judged art shows and has her work in several fine galleries. Her work has been shown in New York at the National Arts and Salmagundi Clubs, and she has won numerous awards. Susan's work has been featured on the cover of Arts Around Boston Magazine.
Professional Memberships include: Rockport, North Shore, Newburyport and Cambridge Art Associaitons; Monotype Guild of New England, Academic Artists; The Pastel Society of America, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the Copley Society.
